The secret to super-high capacity

The secret to MP 270 MH’s high performance is parallel processes and self-optimization. When the material that is to be compacted falls into the baler, its density is automatically measured and then the baler optimizes itself and proceeds to pre-compress the material to 200 kg / m3. The pre-compressed material is then moved to the main press which creates finished bales while new material is being pre-compressed.

“This design’s super-high capacity means that it can replace several smaller balers at a significantly lower cost. The cost per baled tonne drops significantly when you use a MP 270 MH,” says Presona CEO Stefan Ekström.

45 tonnes per hour

The baler has a real capacity of 45 tonnes of material* per hour. That’s 50 percent more than Presona’s second-largest baler, the LP 140, and three times as much as the smaller LP 60.

“In practice, we have put a turbocharger on a baler. I think we are the first in the world to do that,” says Stefan Ekström, CEO of Presona.

The new baler, which has the fitting nickname “Mega”, is intended for recycling and sorting plants or other businesses that bale large quantities of material.

“Being able to pre-compress and make finished bales at the same time means that the capacity will be much higher compared to other types of balers on the market. The pre-compression can be compared to a turbocharger – by increasing the density of the added material we get much higher output, ie more bales per hour. This means that the cost per bale will be lower,” says Stefan Ekström.

The MP 270 MH’s software for self-optimization ensures that the machine is always running optimally. This function also reduces the need for staff to set up and change the baler’s programmes. Less staff input decreases the risk of incorrect settings which can prevent the baler from being used to its full capacity.

A real multi-material machine

Like all Presona balers, the MP 270 MH is a real multi-material machine. Whether you want to bale cardboard, plastic film, household waste or newspaper, “The Mega” can do it. There is also a special programme for pressing PET, which can be a difficult material for many balers.

In this article, we will share our best advice on how to care for your baler in an easy and effective manner. The advice applies to all balers, regardless of baler manufacturer.

Keep the baler clean

Baling equipment is usually installed in a tough environment and it comes with the territory that you end up with a lot of production waste on and around the baler. The baler is of course built to handle tough work environments but no machine (or relationship for that matter) can last forever if it is not kept tidy. The baler should be cleaned daily and while doing that you should also check the condition of vital components. It is also important to lubricate the machine at the predetermined intervals, using the correct greasing media. Check the baler’s manual for instructions on care and maintenance.

If possible, keep enough space around the machine to make cleaning easy. By keeping the space surrounding the baler clean you also make it easier to access hatches, doors and control panels.

It is especially important that all safety features are in good working order. A baling press that is not properly maintained can pose a danger to your staff and other people in the facility.

Check your configurations

Ensure best baler performance by regularly checking that the machine is configured correctly. A modern baler should be equipped with a control system making it easy to, for example, change from one baling material to another. It is of utmost importance to keep the machine configured correctly and thereby ensuring that both baling capacity and bale weight is upheld. If someone without the proper knowledge changes the configurations of your baler you risk getting a machine that can not function properly. A baler that is not performing the way it is supposed to will cost you both time and money: It will use more time creating bales and more baling wire. You will end up with more roundtrips with the forklift and lower weight on each truck. Money, money, money.

Inform and educate

Having a well trained, well informed and motivated staff is a good way of making sure that your baler is performing at its best. It also reduces the risk of accidents! The environment in a baling facility is full of safety hazards that can be avoided if the staff knows how to work safely with the baler. A staff member who feels confident about his/her job has a much greater chance of contributing to good baler performance than one who doesn’t.

A service agreement can be worth its weight in gold. Literally! Having a professional service technician regularly do preventive maintenance on your machine is a good investment! That we can assure you. Long gone are the days when maintenance and service were looked upon as nothing more than a cost. Modern, sustainable companies just can not afford to neglect their equipment.

The new LP 50 EH builds on the same principles and design as all the new LP Series models and has all the same advantages built in, the design, the performance, the energy efficiency and the reliability.

One of the important enhancements compared to the ”old” LP 50 EH is the ECC tying unit with vertical needles from above.

The new LP 50 EH model has the PREMI 50 control system. The PREMI 50 is a PLC control system with a 7” Colour Touch Screen with animations, setting of baling parameters and indication of production data for 15 baling programmes. The PREMI 50 has a web based HMI to monitor the operation of the baler.
